Comparison of prices and what’s on offer in 197 ski areas in 20 European countries

The ECC-Net helps you select the most appropriate ski resort.

Guided by its Austrian colleagues, the ECC-Net compared the prices of ski passes and what’s on offer in 197 ski areas in 20 European countries. In order to facilitate the comparison, and because prices often depend on the size of the area, the ski resorts were classified into 5 categories.

Main findings

  • Prices vary considerably: in the Swiss resort of St. Moritz, a 6-day ski pass for 1 adult costs € 272, in Sport Areál Kliny in the Czech Republic it costs a mere € 40. However, the latter resort has far fewer ski runs.

  • The same Czech ski area is the cheapest (€ 136) for a 6-day family pass (2 adults and 2 children). Saas Fee in Switzerland is the most expensive of all the resorts in the comparison (€ 897).

  • Other expensive ski resorts (for a family package) include: Sierra Nevada in Spain (€ 826), Kronplatz in Italy (€ 799) and Serre Chevalier in France (€ 741).

  • On the whole, small ski areas (e.g. in the Czech Republic and Lithuania) are much cheaper, but there are exceptions (Sport Resort Ylläs in Finland: € 626).

  • It is interesting to know that even Cyprus offers great skiing possibilities, on Mount Olympus no less, which offers a choice between the Zeus, Hera, Aphrodite and Hermes runs.

The report also highlights that families are frequently offered special discounts.

People intent on booking a skiing holiday would be advised to consult the report and corresponding tables (in German) containing all this useful information.
